Are you passionate about keeping people safe on some of the most challenging construction projects in New England? MAS Building & Bridge is looking for a Safety Specialist to join our growing safety team and play a critical role in protecting the men and women who build the infrastructure our communities depend on.
This position is primarily field work across our Heavy Civil, Structural Steel, and Marine Construction operations. You'll be embedded with our field crews — providing hands‑on guidance, technical expertise, and training to ensure our projects run safely and in full compliance with OSHA and client requirements.
What You’ll Do:- Serve as a visible safety presence on active construction sites across Massachusetts and Rhode Island
- Conduct daily field observations, identify hazards, and document findings
- Coach and mentor field employees on safe work practices in real time
- Provide safety input at daily pre‑task and morning huddle meetings
- Develop and deliver targeted safety training based on field observations and identified knowledge gaps
- Assist site management with incident investigations and required documentation
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports
- Build strong working relationships with field crews, project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Professionally represent MAS in interactions with clients and government regulatory personnel
- A genuine interest in construction safety and a desire to build a career in the field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills — you’re comfortable on a jobsite and in a meeting room
- Ability to travel to project sites throughout MA and RI
- OSHA 30‑Hour Construction or OSHA 510 preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is a plus
