Overview

Parsons is looking for a Field Inspector - Rail and Transit to join our team. The position is based on an exciting Rail and Transit project in Boston (2 Frontage Rd. Boston, MA 02118). With minimal supervision, you will perform field engineering assignments including implementation of plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods for an assigned project or a designated area of a large project.

You will review contractor and subcontractor performance to assure contract compliance and standardization of materials and supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily field inspections to confirm work meets approved plans and specifications.

  • Prepare daily field reports summarizing progress, inspections, and issues.

  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor activities for compliance with safety and quality standards.

  • Communicate and help resolve site-related construction challenges promptly.

  • Review the weekly schedule look aheads and be able to realistically estimate activity durations.

  • Support quality control by documenting non-conformances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with other field inspectors and managers.

  • Be willing to work day/night shifts and weekends as required by the construction schedule.

  • Assist with tracking and updating logs for RFIs, NCRs, and other construction documentation.

  • Perform administrative duties under the direction of the Construction Manager.

  • Contribute to monthly progress reports and schedule look-aheads under guidance from the Construction Manager.

  • Assist the Construction Manager as required.

  • Support day/night shifts and frequent weekend shifts during CM oversight of the project construction schedule.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience

  • 5-7+ years of experience in field construction

  • Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes and industry practices.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction, and the ability to lead on a project.

  • Software skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, Pro Core, Adobe Acrobat.

  • Good oral and written communication abilities; ability to write and edit Meeting Minutes.

Desired Skills
  • Amtrak experience is a plus
