The OpportunityThe Construction Estimator is responsible for reviewing construction documents and performing detailed quantity take-offs to support accurate project estimating and bidding. This role plays a critical part in analyzing project requirements, calculating material quantities, and collaborating with project teams to ensure estimates align with job specifications, site conditions, and company standards.
Duties and Functions- Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Calculate the quantity of materials needed for various construction tasks.
- Prepare accurate and detailed take‑off reports to support project estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers to review and discuss project specifications.
- Analyze job site conditions and adjust estimates based on actual project requirements.
- Input data into estimating software to streamline and standardize the take‑off process.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, regulations, and estimating procedures during take‑offs.
- Support the project bidding process by preparing detailed and reliable estimates.
- Stay current with industry trends, construction methods, and building codes to ensure estimating accuracy.
- Process change orders as required.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software such as Plan Swift or Bluebeam; proficiency in Procore is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of construction principles, methods, and materials.
- Certification in construction management or construction estimating preferred.
- Experience in a similar estimating or take‑off role within the construction industry.
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience
. - Strong mathematical skills with a solid understanding of geometry.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with construction materials and associated costs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in calculations.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
