Director of Preconstruction; Commercial Construction

A highly regarded contractor in Greater Boston is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead early project planning and guide the firm’s pursuit and pricing strategy across complex commercial work. This is a senior leadership role for an accomplished preconstruction professional with strong technical rigor, sound judgment, and the ability to engage confidently with sophisticated owners, architects, and trade partners.

• Lead preconstruction from conceptual budgeting through GMP and turnover
• Establish pricing strategy, scope clarity, and bid coverage across pursuits
• Drive constructability, phasing, and value optimization discussions with design teams
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key subcontractors and vendors
• Partner with leadership on pursuit strategy and go/no-go decision making
• Elevate internal preconstruction standards, documentation, and handoff processes

• 10+ years of estimating/preconstruction experience with demonstrated leadership
• Proven performance on complex commercial projects in the Boston market
• Strong command of subcontractor scopes, leveling, and risk management
• Comfortable presenting budgets and strategy to owners and executive teams
• Collaborative leadership style with a builder’s mindset
