Seeking an exceptional and vigilant Manager of Safety to proactively implement a plan and program to ensure safety of all employees, project staff and subcontractors. Positioned in a unique and critical role in the construction process, the Safety Manager must possess strong leadership and attention to detail, in combination with critical thinking and knowledge in the areas of risk management, claims and codes, inspection, incident reporting and enforcement via strong communication skills both written and verbally.
An accident-free and citation-free environment is the goal, minimizing risks through vigilant response to safety concerns. Proper training of employees is an important part of promoting a safety-conscious environment across all company lines.
Functions Include- Promoting safety conscious environment
- Ensure job site safety through strict adherence to OSHA and company requirements
- Analyze reports to evaluate risk management
- Manage property and personal injury matters, including workers compensation claims
- Manage safety administrators
- Coordinate and participate in regular schedule of job site safety visits
- Work with project managers to develop job site specific safety plans
- Assist with the review of contract documents related to safety
- Assist project management staff with issuing responses to clients involving safety related matters
- Manage the OSHA inspection process
- Investigate and document property and personal injury accidents in defense of company’s interests
- Attend safety meetings to review/discuss hazard surveys completed during recent site visits
- Introduce and update safety procedures as needed
- Attend labor meetings to address specific safety concerns
- Coordinate and monitor the issuance of employee disciplinary measures involving safety related matters
- Maintain appropriate certifications and keep abreast of all state/local and federal changes to the law
- 3-10 years of health/safety experience in commercial construction
- 4 year degree in Safety Management, ES&H Management or related science/construction field
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
