Bureau/Division Overview
The mission of the Department of Revenue’s Child Support Services Division is to enhance the well‑being of children by partnering with parents and caregivers to meet the financial needs of the family. Effective child support services are an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families' economic self‑sufficiency.
Position Summary
The summer intern will gain valuable insight into child support inventory workflows, best practices for inventory management, backlog reduction, and customer service. The intern’s work will help identify process improvement opportunities and highlight operational challenges that may require attention.
- Assist the Regional Deputy Director in gathering and reviewing child support inventory and performance data.
- Work with child support team leaders and assist with processing child support inventory to gain hands‑on understanding of inventory movement and workflows.
- Analyze inventory movement and backlog trends to support process improvement efforts.
- Identify basic patterns and challenges related to inventory management and customer service.
- Present findings to managers at the conclusion of the summer internship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills, particularly in working with a diverse group of individuals.
- Familiarity with Excel tools and formulas relevant to data analysis.
- Understanding of basic charting and graphing tools in Excel.
