Job Description & How to Apply Below

Olmstead is seeking a high-impact, commercially minded leader to join our consulting team as a Director focused on Alternative Investments. This individual will play a central role in expanding Olmstead’s alternative investment consulting business – driving new client relationships, originating opportunities, and delivering complex transformation engagements across the alternative investment lifecycle.

The ideal candidate combines deep domain expertise across private markets operations with a strong business development track record. This person will be recognized for their ability to build credibility with senior executives, translate market needs into compelling consulting offerings, and convert relationships into long-term advisory partnerships. The Director will serve as both a trusted client advisor and a growth catalyst—helping Olmstead strengthen its presence with asset managers, asset owners, OCIO platforms, and service providers operating in private equity, private credit, real estate, hedge funds, and hybrid strategies.

This role requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable operating across the full engagement lifecycle—from early-stage opportunity development and proposal creation through implementation leadership and delivery oversight.

Key Engagements May Include
  • Alternative investment operating model assessments and multi-year transformation roadmaps
  • Outsourcing strategy, service provider evaluation, selection, and implementation support
  • Technology strategy and platform selection (OMS, portfolio accounting, fund administration, performance, data platforms)
  • Design and implementation of target operating models, governance structures, and oversight frameworks
  • M&A operational diligence, integration planning, and post-close execution support
  • Data readiness assessments, governance models, and data architecture modernization for private markets
Responsibilities Business Development & Growth Leadership
  • Own and drive business development efforts for Olmstead’s alternative investment consulting services, including pipeline creation and packaging of opportunities
  • Leverage an existing professional network and market presence to generate new opportunities and expand relationships with senior stakeholders (CIO, COO, CTO, Head of Operations, Head of Private Markets)
  • Lead proposal development and sales pursuits, including scoping, solution design, staffing models, pricing, and executive-level presentations
  • Partner with Olmstead leadership to evolve and commercialize alternative investment offerings, building repeatable frameworks, accelerators, and packaged services
  • Identify emerging market themes and translate them into actionable go-to-market messaging, thought leadership, and targeted campaigns
  • Represent Olmstead externally through conference participation, executive round tables, client workshops, and industry events
Client Delivery & Engagement Leadership
  • Serve as the senior engagement lead for complex, multi-workstream transformation programs, ensuring high-quality delivery and strong client outcomes
  • Provide hands-on leadership across program governance, workplan execution, risk/issue management, stakeholder alignment, and executive reporting
  • Build and sustain trusted advisory relationships that expand beyond a single engagement into multi-phase, multi-year partnerships
  • Mentor and develop consulting teams, ensuring delivery consistency, client satisfaction, and internal capability growth
Qualifications
  • 10–15 years of investment management experience across front/middle/back office, with significant depth in alternative investments (private equity, private credit, real estate, hedge funds)
  • Strong understanding of the operational and data lifecycle for alternatives, including valuations, capital calls/distributions, fee structures, investor servicing, and reporting
  • Proven experience leading large-scale alternatives transformation initiatives spanning operating model, technology, data, and/or service provider change
  • Demonstrated business development capability, including building relationships, originating opportunities, and converting executive conversations into consulting engagements
  • Familiarity with leading alternatives platforms and providers (e.g., Investran, Vidrio, eFront, Allvue, Geneva) and third-party administrators
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at the C-suite level
  • Preferred evidence of industry visibility through thought leadership (white papers, publications, conference speaking, webinars, etc.)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio; MS Project preferred)
  • MBA or Master’s degree preferred;
    Bachelor’s degree required
