Arches is a physician-led, value-based care platform focused on rebuilding and sustaining independent primary care. We operate a multi-site medical group in Rhode Island () and are launching a risk-bearing Independent Physician Association (IPA) in Massachusetts (), supported by a proprietary analytics and workflow software platform.
Our work spans practice turnaround, network growth, payer contracting, population health, and technology development — all with the goal of enabling physicians to remain independent while delivering higher-quality, more affordable care.
Role OverviewThe Chief of Staff is a senior, highly trusted partner to the CEO and executive team, responsible for driving execution across the organization’s most important strategic and operational priorities.
This is a hands-on, execution-oriented leadership role suited for someone who thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and can operate seamlessly across strategy, operations, analytics, and stakeholder management. The Chief of Staff will act as a force multiplier for the CEO — translating strategy into action, ensuring cross-functional alignment, and owning high-impact initiatives that cut across clinical operations, network development, and technology.
Key ResponsibilitiesExecutive & Organizational Leadership
- Serve as a strategic advisor and execution partner to the CEO
- Drive follow-through on CEO priorities across clinical, operational, and technical teams
- Coordinate executive-level initiatives and ensure alignment across the leadership team
- Prepare materials for board meetings, partner discussions, and key external stakeholders
- Identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities; proactively propose solutions
Medical Group Operations (Rhode Island)
- Support operational performance and turnaround initiatives across access, staffing models, care teams, and patient flow
- Analyze operational and financial performance including panel size, visits, staffing ratios, and revenue capture
- Partner with practice leadership to execute growth initiatives including clinician onboarding and panel expansion
- Support structured problem-solving at both the practice and enterprise level
IPA & Network Development (Massachusetts)
- Lead or support onboarding of independent practices into the IPA
- Assist with network strategy, practice readiness assessments, and preparation for risk-based contracts
- Help develop operating playbooks and standardized processes for value-based participation
- Participate in meetings with physician leaders, payers, vendors, and strategic partners
- Act as a bridge between clinical, operational, and technical teams
- Help define product requirements, workflows, and data needs for population health and operational tools
- Support testing, refinement, and deployment of analytics dashboards and automation tools
- Translate frontline operational needs into actionable product and data requirements
- Lead high-priority, cross-functional initiatives as the organization evolves
- Develop business cases, financial models, and operational analyses to inform decision-making
- Support payer contracting strategy, partnership development, and growth planning
- Take ownership of time-sensitive or ambiguous initiatives requiring senior-level judgment
- 3+ years of experience in healthcare operations, strategy, consulting, or value-based care organizations
- MPH, MBA or similar advanced degree
- Deep understanding of healthcare delivery and provider-side operations; physician background not required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with comfort using financial and operational data
- Ability to move fluidly between strategy and execution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of judgment, discretion, and accountability
- Comfort working independently in a lean, entrepreneurial startup environment
