About Arches

Arches is a physician-led, value-based care platform focused on rebuilding and sustaining independent primary care. We operate a multi-site medical group in Rhode Island () and are launching a risk-bearing Independent Physician Association (IPA) in Massachusetts (), supported by a proprietary analytics and workflow software platform.

Our work spans practice turnaround, network growth, payer contracting, population health, and technology development — all with the goal of enabling physicians to remain independent while delivering higher-quality, more affordable care.

Role Overview

The Chief of Staff is a senior, highly trusted partner to the CEO and executive team, responsible for driving execution across the organization’s most important strategic and operational priorities.

This is a hands-on, execution-oriented leadership role suited for someone who thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and can operate seamlessly across strategy, operations, analytics, and stakeholder management. The Chief of Staff will act as a force multiplier for the CEO — translating strategy into action, ensuring cross-functional alignment, and owning high-impact initiatives that cut across clinical operations, network development, and technology.

Key Responsibilities

Executive & Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and execution partner to the CEO
  • Drive follow-through on CEO priorities across clinical, operational, and technical teams
  • Coordinate executive-level initiatives and ensure alignment across the leadership team
  • Prepare materials for board meetings, partner discussions, and key external stakeholders
  • Identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities; proactively propose solutions

Medical Group Operations (Rhode Island)

  • Support operational performance and turnaround initiatives across access, staffing models, care teams, and patient flow
  • Analyze operational and financial performance including panel size, visits, staffing ratios, and revenue capture
  • Partner with practice leadership to execute growth initiatives including clinician onboarding and panel expansion
  • Support structured problem-solving at both the practice and enterprise level

IPA & Network Development (Massachusetts)

  • Lead or support onboarding of independent practices into the IPA
  • Assist with network strategy, practice readiness assessments, and preparation for risk-based contracts
  • Help develop operating playbooks and standardized processes for value-based participation
  • Participate in meetings with physician leaders, payers, vendors, and strategic partners
  • Act as a bridge between clinical, operational, and technical teams
  • Help define product requirements, workflows, and data needs for population health and operational tools
  • Support testing, refinement, and deployment of analytics dashboards and automation tools
  • Translate frontline operational needs into actionable product and data requirements
  • Lead high-priority, cross-functional initiatives as the organization evolves
  • Develop business cases, financial models, and operational analyses to inform decision-making
  • Support payer contracting strategy, partnership development, and growth planning
  • Take ownership of time-sensitive or ambiguous initiatives requiring senior-level judgment
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare operations, strategy, consulting, or value-based care organizations
  • MPH, MBA or similar advanced degree
  • Deep understanding of healthcare delivery and provider-side operations; physician background not required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with comfort using financial and operational data
  • Ability to move fluidly between strategy and execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of judgment, discretion, and accountability
  • Comfort working independently in a lean, entrepreneurial startup environment
Why This Role Matters

This role offers a rare opportunity to sit at the center of a growing, physician-led value-based care platform — shaping strategy, driving execution, and helping build durable infrastructure for independent primary care. The Chief of Staff will have direct exposure to executive decision-making and the opportunity to make a visible, lasting impact on the organization’s trajectory.
