Accounting Manager

Description

Our client, in the professional services industry is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team in Boston, Massachusetts. This long-term contract position is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting and a collaborative mindset. The successful candidate will oversee accounting operations and ensure the smooth execution of financial processes in a dynamic software development and licensing environment.

Responsibilities:

- Manage month-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial results

- Oversee general ledger operations and maintain comprehensive account reconciliations

- Prepare and review journal entries to ensure compliance with accounting standards

- Coordinate financial statement audits and support external auditor requirements

- Supervise a Senior Accountant, providing guidance and performance oversight

- Handle payroll accounting and reconciliation processes efficiently

- Support audit preparations, including documentation and coordination with external auditors

- Collaborate on stock-based compensation accounting and quarterly reporting

- Utilize Net Suite for financial operations, including payroll and reconciliation tasks

- Ensure adherence to established processes while identifying opportunities for improvement

Requirements

- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within startup or small-to-mid-sized companies

- Proven expertise in general accounting practices, including month-end close and reconciliations

- Familiarity with software licensing models and capitalized commissions is highly desirable

- Proficiency in Net Suite, including modules for payroll and financial analysis

- Advanced Excel skills for financial reconciliations and data analysis

- Experience with stock-based compensation accounting and audit preparation

- Ability to adapt to established processes and contribute to their continued success
