About Liquid AI
Spun out of MIT CSAIL, we build AI systems that run where others stall: on CPUs, with low latency, minimal memory, and maximum reliability. We partner with enterprises across consumer electronics, automotive, life sciences, and financial services. We are scaling rapidly and need exceptional people to help us get there.
The OpportunityThe Product team builds the software layer that makes Liquid's AI models accessible and usable. You'll work on the platform that enables non-ML engineers to create, customize, and deploy their own model variants. This is the company's highest-priority project, and you'll have direct ownership of major features from architecture to deployment. You'll collaborate closely with executives and ML researchers to translate ambitious goals into shipped products.
While San Francisco and Boston are preferred, we are open to other locations.
What We're Looking ForWe need someone who:
Has high agency: You build end-to-end side projects because you're genuinely passionate about creating software, not because someone assigned it.
Takes ownership: When given a goal, you figure out how to achieve it. You don't wait for detailed specifications or hand-holding.
Has startup DNA: You’ve worked in small, fast-moving environments and thrived. You're not satisfied being a cog in a large machine.
Thinks long-term: You build elegant, maintainable solutions. You know when to ship fast and when to invest in architecture that will scale.
Build and iterate on the platform, enabling non-ML engineers to create and deploy custom model variants
Architect backend services for orchestrating user models and enabling enterprise deployments
Develop full-stack features across Next.js/React frontend and Python/FastAPI backend
Collaborate with Product and ML teams to translate executive goals into shipped features
Reduce single points of failure by building redundancy and documentation across critical systems
Must-have:
Demonstrated high agency through personal side projects or open source contributions, you can walk us through
Full-stack experience with React/Next.js (frontend) and Python (backend)
Ability to own large projects end-to-end with minimal supervision
Clear communication of progress, bottlenecks, and technical decisions
Nice-to-have:
Prior startup experience
Basic understanding of ML model inference
Experience with FastAPI, vLLM, or similar inference infrastructure
Own a major component of the enterprise deployment stack, shipping production-ready features that directly enable customer deployments
Take ownership of features from goal to production, collaborating with the team on direction while driving execution independently
Increase the team's shipping velocity by fully owning either the frontend or backend development stream
Greenfield building: Architect systems from scratch on the company's highest-priority project, not maintain legacy code.
Compensation: Competitive base salary with equity in a unicorn-stage company
Health: We pay 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees and dependents
Financial: 401(k) matching up to 4% of base pay
Time Off: Unlimited PTO plus company-wide Refill Days throughout the year
