The Field Engineer is responsible for supporting needs of Stasis Drilling Solutions Operations department while maintaining an engineering mindset. The individual shall acquire knowledge in Standard Oil Field practices, downhole mechanics/environment, and Surface Back Pressure (SBP) MPD applications as per SDS approved Workflow and procedures.
Supervised Responsibilities- Perform forecasting for Equivalent Mud Weight (EMW) / Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) in drilling operations.
- Calculate Surface Back Pressure (SBP) requirements for drilling and connections.
- Calculate Surface Back Pressure (SBP) requirements for swab/surge margins.
- Determine stroke/volume requirements for various operational scenarios.
- Calculate Surface Back Pressure (SBP) requirements for single stage rollovers and basic ECD pills.
- Ability to rig up, maintain and service MPD/RCD equipment.
- Ability to identify Choke & RCD Components.
- Ability to recognize indications of a plugged choked and respond accordingly.
- Ability to recognize indications of a failed RCD and respond accordingly.
- Ability to recognize & respond to kick & loss indicators and respond accordingly.
- Assist in preparing and developing in-house documentation and document control.
- Assist in preparing Daily Report/Tickets.
- Assist in preparing MPD End of Well Reports.
- Assist in preparing Technical Procedures.
- Create and navigate through hydraulic models.
- Perform basic simulations and subsequent data analysis.
- Create, monitor, and update Job specific Simulations.
- Understand and execute the process for reporting an HSE event at Stasis.
- Identify hazards as outlined in Stasis JSAs, demonstrating awareness and proactive risk management.
- Maintain 100% completion of all required HSE training.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to proficiently use MS Office Suite to develop presentations, correspondence, reports, and schedules (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Recognize standard hole sizes, drill pipe, casing, mud properties, BHA components.
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee must follow all required safety instructions as per company HSE policy.
- Regular punctuality and exhibit leadership through servitude behavior.
- Exhibits honesty and high ethics, determination, active listening, and focused.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, and perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods in various field environments.
