Are you passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives? As our Rough Sleeping & Tenancy Support Officer
, you will join a proactive and compassionate Housing team committed to preventing homelessness and eradicating rough sleeping across the borough. This is a varied, community-based role where no two days are the same, from outreach visits and partnership meetings to supporting individuals into long-term housing. We offer a supportive and inclusive team culture where collaboration, shared learning and new ideas are encouraged.

In this frontline role, you will provide outreach to rough sleepers, including responding to Street Link notifications, coordinating multi-disciplinary meetings and supporting our No Second Night Out and supported housing pathways. You will deliver specialist housing advice to single people with complex needs, support them to sustain temporary accommodation and help them move into longer-term housing. You will contribute to early intervention and prevention work, support homelessness applications, use tools such as the Homelessness Outcomes Star to implement tailored support plans, and help reduce reliance on temporary accommodation.

We are looking for a resilient and empathetic individual with experience in a customer-facing or housing role and an understanding of homelessness and tenancy sustainment. You will have strong communication and negotiation skills, the ability to manage complex situations and a commitment to safeguarding and equality. Organised and outcome-focused, you will be confident working independently while building effective partnerships. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds who share our commitment to supporting vulnerable residents.

The post is offered as a 3 year fixed term contract
, full time (36 hours per week).

Benefits include:

  • 27 – 32 days annual leave (depending on length of Local Gvt Service) - plus all bank holidays
  • Flexi-Leave - accrue extra hours & exchange for up to 2 days leave per month
  • Free gym membership
  • Cycle schemes (Cycle to Work Scheme and free Beryl Bike rides for staff)
  • Employee Assistance Programme

The Council operates a hybrid working system where employees may work up to three days per week from home, depending on business needs.
