CYPMHS Community teams are welcoming, supportive multi‑disciplinary teams committed to providing innovative and high quality care. This county‑wide service has bases across Herts, providing services to children and young people experiencing severe and enduring mental health issues. You will work alongside other clinical social workers, nurses, systemic family therapists, clinical psychologists, child psychotherapists, psychiatrists and operational staff, as well as partner agencies across Social Care and Education.

HCPC registration is required.

As a service we offer various evidence‑based therapeutic intervention models and work alongside our other CYPMHS services including our Eating Disorders Team, Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team, DBT team, Forensic Adolescent Practitioner service, Adolescent inpatient unit, Home Treatment Team and our CYPMHS Targeted team.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to offer mental health assessments and interventions to young people, their families and carers, able to handle high levels of complexity and risk. You will work closely with social care, schools and other partners, support other clinicians in your team, and may join senior leadership meetings to provide expertise for complex case decision‑making.

You will also provide supervision to clinicians in the team, support colleagues and teams in shaping and developing services, and ensure adherence to protocols, policies and KPIs.

As a consultant social worker you will manage a caseload, facilitate safeguarding consultations and discussion spaces, and support team functioning.

The successful candidate will have access to training opportunities aligned with both service needs and personal interests.
