Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Forest)

We are seeking a Consultant iniva Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join the Forest House Adolescent Unit in Radlett, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. The unit is a specialist psychiatric inpatient unit for children and young people aged 13‑18, with 16 beds including acute admissions and support for eating disorder admissions.

The successful applicant will work alongside a substantive consultant and a medical team composed of Specialty Doctors, GP trainees, Psychiatry Specialty and Core Trainees. The post holder will complement and support the Senior Leadership Team—consisting of the other consultant, Therapy Lead, Modern Matron, Team Leaders,Tik consultant social worker and Home stash Team Lead—to deliver the highest standards of care and contribute to operational management and clinical governance.

This role is part of CAMHS within the Specialist Services Strategic Business Unit of the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT), managed by the Clinical Director (Dr. Shaheen Shora). The clinics accept referrals from GPsparate, social workers, health visitors and consultant paediatricians and are processed through SPA (Single Point of Access). Teams are multidisciplinary, including child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, child腹 psychotherapy therapists, systemic therapists and social workers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide senior clinical oversight and care for inpatient children and adolescents.
  • Lead operational management and clinical governance activities.
  • Collaborate across psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work and therapy disciplines.
  • Support efficient referral processing and multidisciplinary team functioning.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Consultant level of psychiatry with a child and adolescent focus.
  • Experience in an inpatient child/adolescent setting desirably, but not mandatory.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in operational management and clinical governance of a clinical service.
