The Opportunity:

Join Factotum as a Trainee Bookkeeper and embark on a rewarding career in finance while gaining valuable hands-on experience. This position is ideal for candidates looking to start their Level 3 Apprenticeship with The AAT (or another accredited provider) and offers the perfect opportunity to develop your skills in bookkeeping and accounting while supporting a variety of clients.

As a Trainee Bookkeeper, you will assist the finance department with routine clerical and accounting tasks, learning the essentials of financial management. You’ll have the chance to develop your skills while working closely with senior team members to ensure that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.

  • Recording daily financial transactions and maintaining accurate records.
  • Issuing payment invoices and receipts to clients.
  • Preparing and submitting periodic ad hoc financial reports to management under supervision.
  • Performing account reconciliations, including client accounts, and preparing monthly journals (payroll, accruals, prepayments).
  • Assisting in the preparation of management accounts.
  • Maintaining accounting working papers.
  • Responding to client questions and queries related to financial transactions.
  • Supporting other accounting tasks as needed.
About you:

You are someone with great attention to detail, a strong interest in finance, and a desire to learn. Whether you have some experience in a finance department or are just starting, you are keen to develop your skills in bookkeeping and accounting and take on new challenges.

It would be helpful to have:

  • 3 A Levels or equivalent.
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to take instruction and apply it efficiently.
  • A basic understanding of accounting software (preferably Xero) and practical experience with Excel.
  • An inquisitive mindset, with organisational skills and a desire to learn.
  • Previous work experience in a finance department (desirable).
