Southport Services is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team.
Job typeFull‑Time, 37.5 hours per week.
ShiftsYou will work a mixture of earlies: (7am - 2:30pm) & afternoons (2:30pm - 10pm). Weekend work is included.
Pay rate£12.60 per hour
LocationsSouthport Services covers residential support for people across three homes, located in York Road, Arbour Street & Dinorwic Road.
York Road is located in the village of Birkdale in Southport, Merseyside. It offers residential support for five males and females who have a learning disability or are on the autism spectrum. Our team are dedicated to providing the people we care for with the skills needed to live a healthier and happier life back in the community. We can also support those who have mental health needs, difficulties with communication, and mild to moderate behaviour that may challenge.
Dinorwic Road is located in the village of Birkdale in Southport, Merseyside. It offers residential support for three people with a primary learning disability diagnosis, who may also have mental health needs. We are located on a quiet road, surrounded by beautiful countryside. We aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where everyone we care for can make their own choices about the care and support they receive.
We want to help provide residents with the skills they need to live a healthier and happier life back in the community.
Arbour Street is a semi‑detached Victorian house, located on a quiet road, very close to Southport city centre. It offers residential support for three adults with a learning disability, who may also be on the autism spectrum. Our team are dedicated to helping people to develop the skills necessary for a future where they can live as independently as possible.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
- Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
- Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
- Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
- Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
- Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well‑being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
- Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
- Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth
