Role Overview

Full Time Support Medical Secretary – Hartley Hospital, Southport. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive and professional secretarial support service to the Community Mental Health Team, ensuring a high level of accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional secretarial support to the Mental Health Care Division, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy.
  • Type clinical correspondence in a timely manner to achieve KPIs.
  • Work closely with the clinical services, maintaining confidentiality at all times when dealing with service‑user and staff information.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and use own initiative to carry out duties that directly contribute to the organisation.
  • Organise own workload and coordinate workload activities with other Medical Secretaries in the team.
  • Work to tight deadlines and withstand the pressure of a busy department while working independently.
Key Requirements
  • Good working knowledge of medical terminology and a willingness to expand that knowledge to support different specialities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly telephone manner.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, capable of meeting tight deadlines and working independently.
  • Ability to work with a flexible approach while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality.
  • Awareness that use of Artificial Intelligence on applications is monitored and must be declared if used.
  • Applicable DBS: enhanced DBS for children & young people services; enrolment in the DBS Update Service may be required.
  • Applicants may consider sponsorship; eligibility can be assessed via the  visa check.
