Sen Teaching Assistant

Position: Sen Teaching Assistant (Contract)
We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in SEN schools across Scunthorpe and the surrounding areas.

These specialist schools support children aged 2–11 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including learning difficulties, communication needs and sensory differences.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils throughout the school day in the classroom and during other activities. You’ll work alongside teachers and other support staff to help create a positive and structured learning environment.

Duties may include:

* Supporting pupils with classroom learning

* Helping children stay engaged with activities

* Assisting with personal care where required

* Supporting pupils during lunch and throughout the school day

* Helping deliver small group or one-to-one support

Many pupils also access additional interventions such as speech and language sessions, sensory activities and specialist support, which you may help facilitate.

The SEN schools we work with are well resourced specialist settings with facilities designed to support children with additional needs. Class sizes are small, allowing staff to provide the support each child needs.

How the Work Starts

Most placements begin as short-term bookings. This allows both you and the school to make sure it’s the right fit. Many roles then lead to longer-term placements or permanent contracts within the school.
