Title:
Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift
Location: Boonton, NJ
Shift: 12-hour Night Shift
Schedule: 3 shifts per week
Hours: 36 hours/week
Shift Time: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Position Summary
The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients with psychiatric and behavioral health needs. This role requires a minimum of two (2) years of recent psychiatric nursing experience and emphasizes collaborative, team-based care. The RN works closely with physicians, social workers, and the interdisciplinary care team to support treatment planning, patient safety, and discharge coordination.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing experience
- Experience working in team nursing models
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Provide safe, therapeutic, and evidence-based nursing care to psychiatric patients
- Participate in team nursing and interdisciplinary team meetings with physicians
- Collaborate closely with social workers for discharge planning and coordination
- Accurately document assessments, care plans, and interventions in EPIC
- Administer medications utilizing Omnicell medication dispensing system
- Monitor patient behavior, mental status, and response to treatment
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
- Medication System: Omnicell
- Strong psychiatric assessment and crisis intervention skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently during night shifts
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatment modalities
- Commitment to patient-centered and trauma-informed care
