Overview

Position:
Professional Nurse in Mary S. Shook Student Health Services, Boone, NC. 9-month, 40 hours/week with occasional after hours and weekend rotation. 1.0 appointment type. Primary department Health Services - 320000. Not eligible for visa sponsorship.

• Provide nursing care for patients and assist physicians/clinicians.
• Work in clinic areas: triage, observation, appointment vital signs, after hours, limited service hours, direct assistance with clinicians, immunizations, allergy, and back hall nursing. Duties can change based on organizational needs.
• Administer medications, obtain lab specimens, dressings, provide health education, and assist clinicians as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

Possession of a current North Carolina license to practice as a Registered Nurse. This description notes it is generalized and may not reflect essential functions per ADA.

• Prior experience in college health
• At least five years nursing experience; working knowledge of NC immunizations; ability to relate to college-age population
• Recent direct patient care nursing experience

• Client/Customer Service: anticipate and meet patient needs, maintain professional relationships, handle crises, evaluate service effectiveness
• Technical Knowledge: nursing principles, nursing process, medication administration, patient education, emergency care
• Communication: effective interview and information delivery to patients, families, and staff

40 hours per week; occasional after hours and weekend rotation. This is a 9-month position from mid-August through mid-May.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $44,324 - $47,081 (9-month annual). Pay commensurate with competencies, budget, equity, and market.
