Temporary Housekeeper (2nd Shift)

This position is for a Temporary Housekeeper (2nd Shift) at Appalachian State University. The successful candidate will have some knowledge of cleaning procedures, the ability to follow instructions, and the ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.

• Floor Maintenance: daily sweeping, wet mopping, periodic spray-buffing and high speed burnishing, scheduled stripping and refinishing of resilient floors.
• Restroom Sanitation: daily sweeping, mopping, cleaning mirrors, spot cleaning walls and stall partitions, applying disinfectant cleaners.
• Dusting, polishing and Spot cleaning: daily cleaning of all furniture, walls, boards, light fixtures, air handling units, blinds, ceilings and interior/exterior glass.
• Vacuuming and Spot cleaning of carpeted floors: determining chemical and/or cleaner to be used for particular spots/spills.
• Trash and debris: removal of trash, recycling and other foreign matter from trash containers and building surfaces.
• Chemicals, Supplies, and Equipment: proper use of various types of chemicals, understanding and following manufacturer’s label instructions.
• Security: responsibility for keys that give access to assigned areas, unlocking and locking of building doors at designated times.

• Some knowledge of cleaning procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.

• Cleaning experience in an industrial setting.
• Microfiber and green cleaning experience.
• Ability to work within team and individual settings.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to attain any certifications required in some areas.

Primary hours are 3:30 pm – 12:00 midnight, Monday through Friday. Weekend work and hours other than normal schedule may be required.
