DescriptionWatauga County Soil and Water Conservation Department is accepting applications for a temporary, contracted Conservation Technician Position. The position is responsible for providing technical services and oversight of the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program and Streamflow Rehabilitation Assistance Program (StRAP). The role supports continued hurricane recovery efforts. Duties include providing technical assistance and oversight of EWP and StRAP projects, determining conservation needs, and overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of approved projects.
Qualifications- Associate Degree in Natural Resources, Conservation, or related field.
- Some experience in soil and water conservation or equivalent education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Salary includes a built‑in allowance for use of personal vehicle and travel/mileage expenses related to duties. Temporary grant‑funded position for 2026, with possibility of renewal or extension into 2027 until project completion. This is a contracted, non‑regular position without benefits.
