The CRP program emphasizes teaching, research, and community engagement that supports strong urban, small‑town, and rural communities.

- Teach six courses per academic year in planning topics, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate courses and graduate courses aligned with faculty expertise.
- Develop and maintain a research agenda that contributes to planning scholarship and community engagement.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students and support the curriculum through active learning and service activities.
- Engage with local communities, small towns and rural regions to inform planning practice and support regional planning research.
- Participate in departmental service, program development, and professional service to the planning field.
- Ph.D. in Planning or a closely related field, completed or expected by July 1, 2026.
- Minimum of one semester of college‑level teaching experience.
- AICP certification or willingness to pursue certification within three years.
- Evidence of teaching excellence at the university level and a strong research agenda in planning.
- Commitment to community and economic development or environmental planning and to working in a growing program.
