DescriptionWATAUGA COUNTY POSITION OPENING The Watauga County Sanitation Department is accepting applications for the position of Part‑Time Regular Office Clerk. Under general supervision, the incumbent performs administrative duties including reading vehicle scales, entering data, typing, maintaining files and records, and must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with County officials, associates and the general public. Incumbent weighs county vehicles, private contract vehicles, and all other vehicles bringing refuse and garbage to the landfill on a computerized scale system;
maintains a variety of operational, bookkeeping, budget and program records and processes accounts receivable and payable; and prepares daily bank deposits. Position may also prepare and submit department payroll for approval and processing; answer questions and respond to inquiries or complaints on department and County operations, policies and procedures. In addition, this position maintains calendars, schedules appointments and assists with staff schedules.
Individual may perform the duties of the Container Site Attendant as required.
- Weighing county and contract vehicles using a computerized scale system.

- Performing duties of the Container Site Attendant as required.
- High‑school graduation (or equivalent).
- Some clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hours:
Approximately 20 hours per week. - Pay:
Salary grade 3, $20.86 per hour. - Benefits:
Half‑time benefits including health insurance, retirement, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. - Work schedule:
Some weekend work required.
