We are currently seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with local athletes, providing comprehensive rehabilitation services and taking a proactive approach to injury prevention and ongoing athletic performance programs.

Salary Scale: $23.59 - $31.03 (depending on experience)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

High School Athletic Trainer

Injury Prevention & Screening

  • Conduct pre-season screenings and implement prevention programs for student-athletes as requested by coaching staff/AD.

On-Field Injury Evaluation & Emergency Care

  • Provide immediate assessment and first aid for injuries during practices and games.
  • Properly triage students with injuries.
  • Activate Emergency Action Plan when necessary.

Treatment & Rehabilitation

  • Deliver evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.

Return-to-Play Management

  • Coordinate clearance process for injured athletes in compliance with physician recommendations and school/hospital policy.

Concussion Protocol Compliance

  • Perform pre-season concussion testing to provide a baseline for RTP.
  • Administer sideline concussion assessments; manage graded RTP progression per established protocol.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and timely injury records, treatment notes, and incident reports.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Provide timely updates to coaches, parents, and healthcare team.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings as needed as well as monthly attendance at department meetings.
  • Maintain strong communication with the school AD as well as clinic Director and other athletic trainers to assure that all required events are covered to the school’s satisfaction.

Event Coverage & Readiness

  • Demonstrate proper preparation for practices and games, including emergency equipment readiness and communication with coaches and officiating crew.

Education & Outreach

  • Deliver educational sessions on injury prevention, emergency preparedness, and safety to athletes, coaches, and parents.

Resource/Facility Management

  • Order, maintain and inventory supplies and equipment
  • Work with AD and booster club to ensure facility and equipment are safe and up to date.

Clinical Work

  • Perform other duties as assigned in the clinic to assist with patient care and clinic flow.

MINIMUM

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program.

Certification:
Current certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.

Licensure:
Must hold or be eligible for state licensure as an Athletic Trainer in accordance with Iowa state law. Licensure must be obtained prior to practicing independently and maintained as required by state regulations.

Experience:

One (1) year of athletic training experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations will be considered.

Additional Credentials:

  • Must maintain state of Iowa continuing education requirements.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s License
  • Annual mandatory education and training.
