Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist II Float serves as a key patient-facing representative, responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established procedures.
- This role requires direct patient interaction, ensuring a safe, accurate, and professional experience while maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating leadership behaviors.
- The position may support multiple locations, including patient service centers and physician offices, based on business needs.
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional working environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established practices and procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm correct specimen labeling.
- Maintain required records and documentation accurately.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients.
- Travel between multiple sites as assigned and report on time to each location covered.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call schedules, and overtime as required.
- Commitment to company policies, procedures, dress code, and safety standards.
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise sound judgment.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver s license, and a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Strong customer focus with clear and professional communication skills.
- One to three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment strongly preferred.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience.
- Phlebotomy and specimen handling.
- Patient interaction and customer service.
- Documentation and data accuracy.
- Time management and adaptability.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred and required in certain states.
