This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

As the Community Care Nurse Trainer Registered Nurse (RN) you will execute position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Collaborate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrate performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care of all patient care included within assignments. Provide peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement.

Support colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Lead efforts with management and within the Shared Governance Structure to alleviate identified care and culture disparities between units. Evaluate outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.

Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility. You are responsible and accountable for the development and implementation of education programs. Primarily responsible for the general orientation of new employees, evaluation of their progress in the orientation process, and for developing and implementing a learning plan for improving identified deficiencies for nursing staff in the community care.

Additionally, you will be responsible for continuing education programs for all nursing staff within community care as a facilitator and/or coordinator. You will work collaboratively in the development and implementation of nursing service and educational programs and initiatives. Actively participate in workshop / continuing education programs, as well as function in classroom teaching environments, clinical arenas, and as a group facilitator during training and implementation of changes in nursing related computer applications.

Responsible for participation in and the management and oversight of programs related to continuous readiness, accreditation, peer review and data collection and reporting for the assigned population. You will complete chart audits to ensure that care learning objectives are being met. You will have knowledge regarding conducting and reporting quality improvement measures,

including a sound knowledge of Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Joint Commission accreditation standards, Office of Inspector General (OIG), and Office of Sterile Processing (OSP) standards. Maintain clinical competencies. Possess excellent computer and interpersonal skills and responsible for other duties as assigned. Assure delivery of care is in accordance with established standards, hospital policies and procedures, and consistent with the plan of other health care providers.
