Project DetailsSupport the construction program upgrades for the North Texas Veterans Healthcare System (NTXVHCS), including Dallas VAMC;
Bonham VAMC;
Garland VAMC;
Community Based Outpatient Care (CBOC) facilities.
The government requires a CM-Mechanical Engineer (CM-ME) to provide construction management support from pre-design through construction, primarily for Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects, expanding VA’s internal contract management oversight capabilities. The individual will provide professional and technical consultative assistance related to operations, renovation, and new construction programs, assisting the Contracting Officer and the Contracting Officer’s Representative in project management, project engineering, planning, scheduling, design reviews, code compliance, testing, record keeping, quality control, quality assurance, cost control, and general oversight of design and construction projects.

- Pre-Design/Design Phase activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (HVAC) with minimum 6 years of experience in design and construction focused on Healthcare HVAC systems.
- Ability to quickly understand and master local state and federal jurisdiction requirements.
- Knowledge of construction contract documents, front-end and technical specifications, and drawings.
- Skillset in engineering services, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling to lead project success.
- Competency to supervise and manage a diverse team of personnel.
- Communication, language, and software skills to utilize various software programs for monitoring, updating, and producing work products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (HVAC) with a minimum of 6 years of experience in design and construction of Healthcare HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of local state and federal jurisdiction requirements.
- Proficiency in construction contract documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Expertise in engineering services, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Leadership experience supervising and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, language, and computer literacy skills.
- Experience managing VA projects as a CM-a.
- Experience managing medical projects as a CM-a.
