Role OverviewThis role sits within our Integrated Front Door Team, which in other Local Authorities is referred to as the MASH. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and the skills of others within our team. The role is non‑case holding, office‑based but you will work collaboratively with all partner agencies within the Integrated Front Door including the Police, Health, Missing from Home Coordinator, Independent Domestic Violence Advocates and Children with Disabilities Duty, and you will still have daily interactions with partner agencies outside of the Integrated Front Door and with families and members of the public.
This is a fast‑paced and exciting role where you will screen, triage and make threshold decisions relating to all new referrals to the Integrated Front Door, provide expert knowledge to professionals and families, and contribute to strategy meetings and other multi‑agency meetings.
Responsibilities• Screen, triage and make threshold decisions for children in need and those requiring protection.
• Provide expert knowledge, advice and guidance to referrers and partner agencies.
• Build positive relationships with families, record referral information accurately, and present concise information verbally and in writing.
• Champion continuous improvement, role‑model high standards of practice, embed research in practice, and contribute to the ongoing development of the Integrated Front Door and wider Children’s Services.
• At least two years post‑qualifying social work experience.
• Strong safeguarding and current children’s social care practice knowledge.
• Skilled in analysing information from multiple sources, assessing risk, and making safe, timely, and proportionate threshold decisions.
• Excellent communication skills to build professional relationships and provide clear advice.
• Confidence in completing high‑quality contacts and referrals.
An Enhanced DBS with check of the relevant barred list is required. The role is a designated customer‑facing role and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification. The organisation has signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment.
