Mechanical Fitter

S&D Trade Recruitment are currently looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a well established company in Bolton, specialising in bespoke design and fabrication services. This is a temporary Mechanical Fitter role with ongoing work and some weekend shifts potentially available at enhanced rates. Immediate start available.
Salary: £16.00–£18.25 per hour
- Hours:

37.5 hrs/week, Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 (some weekend work may be available)
The successful Mechanical Fitter will work in a busy workshop assembling and fitting metal components to high quality standards, working from engineering drawings, technical documents, and work instructions. Strong mechanical fitting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential for any Mechanical Fitter joining the team.
Mechanical Fitter

Key Responsibilities:

* Assemble and fit metal components using techniques such as drilling, bolting, grinding, and general mechanical assembly.
 
* Follow technical documents and work instructions to ensure all quality standards are met.
 
* Work independently and use your own initiative to achieve timelines and production standards.
 
* Read engineering drawings provided and work from works orders accurately.
 
* Inspect components to ensure quality, precision, and correct assembly.
 
* Use hand tools, bench saws, and measurement equipment safely and effectively.
 
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
 
* Collaborate with colleagues to meet production and assembly targets.
Mechanical Fitter Requirements:
 
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter is essential.
 
* Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, works orders, and technical documents.
 
* Experience working with mild steel and stainless steel components.
 
* Competent in using hand tools, bench saws, and measurement equipment safely.
 
* Recognised qualifications in mechanical fitting, fabrication, or a time-served apprenticeship advantageous but not essential.
 
* Semi-skilled applicants with proven experience are also welcome.
 
* Immediate start required.
