Addictions
Psychiatrist to join our new Treatment & Recovery service in Bolton, are you experienced in substance misuse treatment and want to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support, their families and community? As a Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist, you will be part of the leadership team within the services, taking on the role of Medical Lead alongside our Clinical Services Lead. You will provide clinical leadership, expert advice both within the service and beyond and ensure that the people of Bolton who use our service receive high quality evidence-based care.

Waythroughs clinical teams are supported by a multi-disciplinary, forward thinking, and innovative Clinical Department. Regular clinical supervision, peer support groups, appraisal and support with revalidation is available, as well as generous CPD time and annual leave.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide clinical leadership, advice, and operational direction for both clinical and non-clinical teams within the service and wider primary care colleagues in respect of all medical aspects of care.
  • Undertake service user centred assessments, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation, monitoring, evaluation and reviews in service and outreach settings.
  • Lead on any specialist pathways/treatment clinics, within the service, for those with co-occurring mental health conditions
  • Undertake the initial review, triage and ongoing support of complex dual diagnosis/presentation including pregnancy and young people.
  • Provide clinical and specialist psychiatric input to inform and influence clinical culture, quality and standards, and implementation of clinical models.
  • Lead in-service Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings.
  • Support the clinical team through individual clinical reviews to support discussion and the development of a safe and effective treatment plan.
  • Liaise with all agencies delivering services to or sharing care of clients including but not limited to sharing care with GPs and other agencies such as hospital specialists.
  • Provide prescribing information and advice to Pharmacy and GPs.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • MRCpsych qualification
  • License to practice and on the GMC Specialist
  • Psychiatrist with drug and alcohol addiction specialism/general psy
