An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical Network Design Engineer to join a growing multi‑utility provider. This is a key role within the Design team, supporting a wide range of domestic, commercial, and industrial projects across the UK.
The Role
You'll take ownership of delivering high‑quality LV/HV electrical network designs and earthing assessments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. Working closely with DNOs/IDNOs, equipment manufacturers, and internal multi‑utility teams, you'll play a central part in shaping design strategy and supporting the development of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Produce tailored LV/HV network designs, including SLDs, wiring diagrams, cable calculations, and earthing assessments
Secure DNO/IDNO design approval for network and earthing solutions
Manage workload effectively to deliver accurate designs on time and within budget
Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with DNO/IDNO policies, ENA documentation, CDM regulations, and relevant standards
Support multi‑utility coordination with Gas and Water Designers
Conduct internal peer reviews of tender and contract designs
Mentor and support trainee and junior design engineers
What We're Looking For
Degree/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
Incorporated Engineer status (IET) or working towards it
Minimum 5 years' experience designing LV/HV (11kV/33kV) electrical networks
Strong understanding of DNO/IDNO requirements, including G81 documentation
Experience with WinDEBUT/Vis Net and AutoCAD
Knowledge of substation design, protection requirements, and NERS compliance
Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving ability
