£100-£130 per day | Full-time | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity
We are working with a specialist SEND school in Bolton to recruit an experienced Motor Vehicle / Mechanics Instructor to deliver practical, vocational learning to small classes of pupils with EHCPs, primarily for Autism (ASC) and SEMH needs.
Classes are small (no more than 8 students), allowing for a focused, relationship‑based approach. Pupils can present with challenging behaviour, so the successful candidate must be calm, resilient, and confident in managing behaviour positively.
This is a full‑time role, initially on supply for 12 weeks, with a strong opportunity to become permanent (or extend on supply if preferred, at the school’s request).
The Role Will Involve:- Delivering practical motor vehicle / mechanics sessions in a workshop‑style environment
- Adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs and EHCP targets
- Supporting pupils to develop vocational skills, confidence, and engagement
- Managing behaviour using clear boundaries, structure, and consistency
- Working closely with support staff to ensure safe, well‑supervised sessions
- Encouraging positive choices, teamwork, and employability skills
- Maintaining a safe working environment and following health & safety procedures
- Strong knowledge or hands‑on experience in motor vehicle mechanics
- School‑based experience or experience working with young people in SEND, SEMH, AP, PRU, or similar settings
- Confidence working with pupils with Autism and SEMH needs
- A calm, firm, and resilient approach to challenging behaviour
- A DBS on the Update Service (essential)
- A genuine interest in supporting vulnerable learners through vocational education
Teaching qualifications are not essential - candidates with strong industry experience and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.
