The Bishop Fraser Trust is seeking a strategic and visionary Trust Director of Mathematics to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mathematics education across our schools. As a key leader reporting directly to the CEO, you will take full responsibility for the quality of subject provision, curriculum, and assessment, with a dedicated focus on accelerating improvement and raising standards at Bolton St Catherine’s Academy.

Our mission is to allow every child to experience "life in all its fullness," and we are looking for a leader who combines deep pedagogical expertise with the coaching skills necessary to inspire staff and drive exceptional outcomes for all students, regardless of their starting point.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher with a proven track record of improving GCSE and/or A-level outcomes. You will work collaboratively across our multi-academy trust to disseminate quality teaching strategies, lead professional development, and ensure inclusive curriculum delivery. Another key feature of the role will be to help train our next generation of mathematics teachers, building a superb mathematics workforce for the benefit of our Trust but also beyond.

We are seeking a passionate CANDIDATE who:
  • Has successful experience as a mathematics teacher at KS4 and/or KS5, over a period of at least four years.
  • Demonstrates great subject knowledge and a strong understanding of evidence informed mathematics pedagogy.
  • Is collaborative, reflective and valued driven
  • Is proactive and flexible, willing to take a hands-on approach and work across multiple schools to ensure a high quality of teaching and learning
  • Is a visionary and strategic thinker, capable of balancing the fine details of daily operations with long
    -term planning for the Trust’s mathematics provision
  • Can build strong and trusting relationships
  • Promote safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing across all schools
  • Can motivate both colleagues and students to work hard and try their best through passing onto them their infectious enthusiasm and passion for teaching
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities including resilience, drive and initiative and role model those personal qualities we wish to see in all our staff and instil into our young students
  • Actively share good practise and seek to explore ways to improve their own and others teaching.
YOUR MAIN DUTIES WOULD BE:
  • Assist in the recruitment, training and development of trainee Mathematics teachers
  • Work closely with mathematics teams to accelerate improvement and raise attainment in mathematics, especially across key pupil groups and in Basics.
  • To assist department leads in developing high-quality teaching and learning in the department
  • To assist in the quality assurance of curricula and the quality and consistency of assessment and moderation
  • Support schools before, during and after Ofsted inspections specifically in relation to mathematics
  • To ensure that the subject knowledge of staff in the department across all schools is strong and that non-specialists and ECTS are well supported in this regard.
  • Plan and deliver intervention and enrichment programmes to create student curiosity and enthusiasm for the subject
  • Develop careers advice and guidance for students interested in mathematics at higher and further education and help schools in implementation of this advice and guidance
