Primary FocusSupervises the daily activities of a production area to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. Coordinates work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity. Monitors production activity, identifies process problems, troubleshoots causes and develops solutions. Suggests improvements to improve efficiencies or safety. Delivers and coordinates staff training and on-boards new staff. Ensures all safety policies and processes are followed per the BRC standards set forth for quality, safety, compliance, and operational criteria.
The RoleShift Supervisor – Afternoon shift 2:30 pm to 12:00 am, Monday to Friday.
- Completes daily startup of packaging machines
- Ensures film for all the lines is supplied, based on daily production schedule
- Returns film to correct location after production is completed
- Provides the Production Supervisor with the 1st bag after each film change and before start of packing
- Monitors packaging weight within outlined weight tolerances.
- Verifies Lot number
- Verifies quality of packaging
- Ensures that correct film is used for each product and reports daily usage of film accurately
- Reports if incorrect product, packaging material or incorrect information was used
- Understands the production schedule, and priority of processing
- Ensures that daily packing volumes are met
- Ensures that equipment on all the lines operate smoothly, troubleshoots when required. Reports to supervisor if Technical Support is required
- Provides attention to all production processes to ensure they are carried out in agreement with outlined procedures and policies
- Performs the mixing with other employees – based on mixing instructions
- Communicates clear expectations for work outcomes to team members
- Schedules overtime or hiring temporary staff members to meet production goals or handle seasonal workloads
- Manages employee performance to ensure that they are meeting standards and completing tasks in a timely manner
- Escalates concerns about an employee’s performance to the production manager/ plant manager if performance issues can
- Responsible for supporting safe, respectful, and productive work environment
- Ensures that Safety, Production and Accuracy standards are met and provides attention to all production processes to ensure they are carried out in agreement with safety and policies
- Updates forms that are required for BRC program - Daily Knife Control Sheet, Daily Cleaning log, Check weightier, Metal Detector, Daily production log
- Trains new employees on the job duties and safety procedures for their position
Knowledge & Experience
- Strong knowledge of Packaging Equipment, processing, and hands on experience with troubleshooting
- 5+ years of experience supervising in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in MS Suite - Word, Excel, and Outlook
