The OpportunityReporting to the Supervisor, Data and Applications, this role is responsible for the installation, repair, operation, and preventative maintenance of Joint Fire Communication Centre (JFCC) telecommunications, data communications and electronic equipment, as well as the provision of technical guidance to a variety of end users for all Fire and Emergency sites. This role will also be providing configuration and support of corporate Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) business applications and software programs, along with the corresponding databases.
This includes troubleshooting business applications and databases, assisting in the delivery configuration and customization of existing and new applications for all internal customers. This role is required to provide exceptional customer service in line with the Town’s standards, and collaborating with the IT team to ensure that all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Provides technical support/maintenance of Caledon Joint Fire Communications Centre (JFCC) equipment, radio communications equipment, Fire Station Alerting subsystems, dispatcher consoles, modem/AVL equipment and communications peripherals.
- Responsible for the Motorola Premier One CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system and associated MDU hardware, Zoll Rescue Net and Fire Services Records Management Systems (RMS) application support, application configuration, and documentation support, maintenance, project support, Software configuration management and submitting recommendations for system enhancements to the Manager.
- Performs statistical reporting and analysis using CAD and RMS data, including quarterly data submission to the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) office.
- Maintains continuous contact with vendors, Division team members, and training resources to initiate change orders and/or apply changes to controlled Application documents. Changes may be initiated by new release, upgrade notes, application enhancements or bug fixes. Develops training materials and manuals and trains staff in the use of the communications equipment, as required.
- Ensures inventory control and monthly check‑up of all communications equipment.
- Must be able to make responsible purchases with approval, and within established guidelines.
- Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
We are seeking an experienced professional with a post‑secondary diploma in Computer Science, Business Administration or Management Information Systems or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of four (4) years of related experience in working in a communication/information technology role, a minimum of three (3) years’ experience troubleshooting, supporting, maintaining and upgrading technical applications within public sector business applications, preferably in a municipal environment, including AMANDA, a minimum three (3) years of IT experience running scripts and executables for a database system of information supporting a service delivery program and a minimum three (3) years’ experience in customizing reports and dashboards using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Crystal Reports, and Power BI.
The ideal candidate will have business knowledge and experience maintaining workflow and organizational management within an enterprise‑wide application. We are seeking an individual who has knowledge in systems design, development, support, and implementation.
The successful candidate will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required). This new position offers an hourly range of $48.30 to $60.38.
