We are seeking a Construction Technician to support the AKIRA Construction & Facilities team with store openings, rebuilds, and ongoing maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will possess basic construction skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.

Job Type: Full Time
Responsibilities- Assist in new store openings and rebuilds, including sanding, painting, cutting, and building in‑store fixtures
- Installing appliances and equipment at store locations
- Transport materials to and from job sites
- Support skilled trades (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, masons) as needed
- Operate hand tools and power tools (saws, drills, etc.) safely and effectively
- Perform equipment inspections and routine maintenance on tools
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines
- Travel to various Chicagoland locations and occasionally out of state
- Respond to urgent facilities needs outside of standard business hours (occasional nights and weekends)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Full‑time availability (40+ hours/week)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders
- Willingness to travel as required
- Strong adherence to safety practices and attention to detail
- Basic construction knowledge and hands‑on experience
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Woodworking, carpentry, and fixture building skills a plus
- Basic technical proficiency (email, Zendesk ticketing, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings
- Responsive, team‑oriented, and adaptable to shifting priorities
- Flexible availability and willingness to respond to urgent needs outside typical hours

CompensationThe starting pay range for this position is $17.00 an hour, based on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation and benefits may also apply and will be discussed during the hiring process.
