Position: Operator I, Bindery - Night Shift

Location

On‑site role at 605 Territorial Dr, Bolingbrook, IL 60440. Work hours are 5 pm – 5 am with rotating scheduled weekends.

Summary / Objective

Operate a high‑speed processing and finishing system for the printing and mailing industry, transforming large rolls of printed paper into final products such as direct mail, transactional documents, inserts, and book blocks.

Essential Functions
  • Operate and set up Tecnau and Hunkeler finishing lines and traditional cutters and folders in bindery.
  • Enter data into ERP to monitor overall performance, efficiency, and quality.
  • Perform equipment start‑up, shut‑down, and preventive maintenance.
  • Sample and monitor product quality, making modifications as needed.
  • Troubleshoot finishing line performance and quality problems, correcting them and stabilizing performance as they occur.
  • Replenish materials as they are depleted.
  • Maintain production, efficiency, and quality records related to the finishing/bindery operation.
  • Support the manufacture of personal products through continuous production, requiring understanding of work methods and procedures as well as various binding machines.
  • Work is typically routine, although some discretion may be allowed. Apply limited knowledge and expertise for short‑term tasks and projects for business needs.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Print & Mail Production Background:
    Familiarity with print workflows, mailpiece formats (letters, flats, postcards), and USPS postal regulations.
  • Machine Operation:
    Experience setting up and running high‑speed finishing equipment (inserters, folders, cutters, stackers, unwinders, stitchers, binders).
  • Mechanical Aptitude:
    Ability to troubleshoot jams, misfeeds, or alignment issues, adjusting rollers, knives, perforators, or sensors on the fly.
  • Quality Control:
    Check for print defects, alignment, correct collation, and address readability to meet postal automation standards.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Document regular activities and e‑mail correspondence.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi‑task.
  • Aptitude for accuracy and meticulous eye for detail.
  • Work independently.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Not responsible for supervising other employees.

Work Environment

Indoor, temperature‑controlled production facility.

Physical Demands
  • Stand on feet for at least 8 hours per day.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE):
    Certain PPE may be required while performing specific job functions.
Security Clearance

Amsive is a Federal Contractor, and this position may require government security clearance for certain projects.
