Welder II (2nd Shift) – 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM
Join G&W Electric Co. as a Welder II on the 2nd Shift. The role includes performing moderate‑to‑advanced MIG/TIG welding in various positions and assembling and aligning subassemblies.
Responsibilities- Assemble, align, square up, fit, stiffen and tack weld a variety of subassemblies and assemblies of moderate to advanced complexity using B/Ms, steel tape, straight edge, squarer, clamps, jacks, fixtures, templates, and similar equipment.
- Fit parts using torch, carbon arc, or hand grinding equipment to facilitate alignment and assembly.
- Set up and regulate pressure for oxyacetylene torch and control gas, current, and voltage for proper penetration and fusing of metals.
- Select electrode size and type, tips, and welding rod or wire as required.
- Check and straighten gasket surfaces and grind excess weld from finished work.
- Lay out and secure work, including heavy parts and assemblies, regulating current and voltage for similar and dissimilar metals.
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Train others on welding procedures and techniques, contributing to team effort.
- Inspect all work and ensure it meets requirements before passing it to the next operation.
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- At least one year of formal welding training or equivalent experience.
- Three years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with small hand and power tools, measuring tools, air tools, and welding equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and bills of material.
- Basic computer skills.
- Capable of performing MIG and TIG welding in various positions.
- Lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally; 40 pounds frequently.
- Carrying up to 40 pounds occasionally up to 25 feet; pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds frequently.
- Standing and walking continuously; bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling frequently.
- Using hand/power tools frequently; assisted lifting, pulling, and pushing with jacks and hoists.
- Medical clearance required to wear PAPR or SAR respirator helmet.
Pay range: $27 – $30 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
