LaSalle Network is partnering with a growing organization currently hiring for a Director of Fleet Maintenance & Shop Operations that is responsible for the end‑to‑end performance of the company’s fleet maintenance function, including all shop operations, asset management, compliance, and financial results. This leader ensures maximum equipment availability, safe operations, and disciplined cost control while running the internal shop as a revenue‑generating business.
This is an immediate leadership need. The role is currently covered by an interim leader who will be exiting within days. The incoming Director will assume responsibility for a well‑established operation with a team of approximately 20–30 employees and will be expected to provide stability, direction, and scalable leadership from day one.
Responsibilities- Own all maintenance and repair operations for Class 8 tractors and trailers, including preventive maintenance, breakdown response, and lifecycle planning.
- Direct daily shop operations, labor planning, parts management, and workflow optimization to maximize uptime and throughput.
- Establish, enforce, and continuously improve maintenance standards, SOPs, and PM programs.
- Maintain full compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and DOL regulations; ensure audit readiness at all times.
- Lead, coach, and develop technicians, supervisors, and support staff; set clear performance expectations and accountability.
- Manage departmental budgets, vendor spend, inventory levels, and outsourced repair decisions.
- Leverage CMMS data, reporting, and KPIs to drive operational reliability, cost control, and informed decision‑making.
- Operate the shop as a profit center with direct responsibility for P&L performance, pricing strategy, margins, and capacity utilization.
- Expand third‑party repair and maintenance revenue by building external customer relationships and service offerings.
- Partner with Sales and Operations to support customer retention, new business, and bundled service solutions.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through accurate estimates, quality repairs, timely turnaround, and transparent communication.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and customers to support operational excellence and growth.
- Perform additional duties as required to support business objectives.
- 3–5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, heavy‑duty truck and trailer repair, or shop management.
- Demonstrated leadership experience running a Class 8 maintenance facility or multi‑shift operation.
- Deep working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, asset lifecycle management, and uptime optimization.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and DOL regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and track operational and financial KPIs.
- Customer‑oriented mindset with experience supporting both internal operations and external clients.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive accountability, performance, and team development.
- Highly organized with clear communication and decision‑making skills.
Pay Range: $120,000-$182,000
