As a Sr. Tax Analyst, you will focus on a variety of (non-income) tax types including (but not limited to) annual reports, sales & use tax, licensing, and personal property tax. You will be responsible for: audit defense preparation, exposure analysis & mitigation, systems improvement and implementation, product taxability, and project-based initiatives, special projects like refund programs, annual reports, and licensing renewals or property tax payments as needed.

Project work may include extensive data analysis, using Excel and databases to review detailed transactions with high volume at a fast pace. There will be significant interface with tax department personnel, individuals in finance, IT, and business partners throughout the organization. Preparing and completing tax audits, including preparation and analysis of responses to document requests, preparation of appeals and other correspondence.

YOU'LL

ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY
  • Preparing and analyzing the company’s ASC
    450 reserves.
  • Leading special projects as assigned, including refund programs.
  • Preparing, filing, and monitoring for completion annual reports for assigned companies.
  • Processing and mailing tax payments.
  • Preparing budgets/forecasts for indirect tax.
  • Implementing and completing account reconciliations and journal entries for indirect tax.
  • Complete user acceptance testing for various projects.
  • Completing tax research for various taxing jurisdictions.
  • Meeting all statutory compliance deadlines in the time frames directed by management.
  • Monitoring current tax developments and practices, which would affect various tax liabilities.
  • Analyzing notices and correspondences from various governments and prepare responses.
  • Resolving help desk tickets/customer service questions.
  • Leading and contributing in internal meetings and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Completing coding of products for taxability, as needed.
  • Collaborate with external firms and internal teams to execute assigned tasks.
  • Providing oversight of third party who processes indirect tax returns for position’s assigned states, as needed.
  • Processing licensing renewals and new store openings, as needed.
  • Preparing unclaimed property data and processing letters, as needed.
  • Implement and complete monthly, quarterly, or annual indirect tax returns as needed.
  • Analyze audit notices and correspondences from various governments and prepare responses.
  • Document training on various audit processes.
  • Lead and contribute in internal meetings and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Communicating tax knowledge to Tax leadership, Finance leadership (including controller or CFO) and other department personnel.
THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other financial discipline or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of progressive tax experience required
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Previous personal property tax and licensing experience a plus
  • Previous experience in a large corporate tax environment, a strong plus
  • Previous experience in retail industry, a strong plus
  • Previous experience with at least 30+ states, a strong plus
  • Previous audit experience a plus
  • Previous knowledge of SAP, LHQ, Vertex, and One Source Property…
