Staff Accountant – High-Growth Industrial Leader
Location: Bolingbrook, IL area (100% In-Office)
Industry: Industrial Distribution Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000 + Comprehensive Benefits
Our client is a privately owned, high-growth leader in the heavy machinery and environmental equipment sector, in the mid-size company space. They are seeking a high-aptitude Staff Accountant to join their lean accounting and finance team. This is not a role for an experienced accounting clerk; it is a strategic step-up opportunity for a junior accounting professional with 1–3+ years of experience who wants to move beyond basic accounting, AP/AR and take full ownership of the month-end close process.

Key Responsibilities & ImpactReporting directly to the Controller, you will be a "Day 1" contributor responsible for maintaining the integrity of the books and records for a multi-state operation.
- Full-Cycle Month-End: Own the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and tying out to the General Ledger.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements, income statements, and balance sheets.
- Treasury & Reconciliation: Manage weekly bank reconciliations and lines of credit to ensure accurate liquidity tracking.
- Variance Analysis: Utilize advanced Excel modeling to analyze account variances and financial data, surfacing insights for the leadership team.
- Compliance: Support year-end filings, external audits, and the preparation of tax documentation.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; a rock-solid understanding of GAAP is non-negotiable.
- Experience: 1–3+ years of professional accounting experience with a heavy focus on the month-end close.
- Technical Savvy: Solid Excel skills are a must (VLOOKUPs & Pivot Tables minimum).
