Overview

Our West Boise YMCA & Boise City Aquatic Center is seeking a skilled Swim Lesson and Recreational Swim Team Program Coordinator to join their Aquatics team! This individual will be responsible for managing and developing all Swim Lesson functions in the Aquatic Center and providing quality programs and excellent customer service while maintaining safety standards that meet the Association guidelines, mission and goals.

Serving over 20,000 active youth, adult, and family members, the West Branch of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA helps members lead a healthier, happier life. Facility amenities and features include six fitness studios, three racquetball courts, full-court basketball gym, youth activity center, climbing wall, 50-meter swimming pool, and training pool.

Schedule

This is a full-time position at 40 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are typically Monday-Friday, 11:00am to 7:00pm, with some weekends depending on when we are hosting events. Pay is $17.70-$22.13 per hour with benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Director to ensure department operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
  • Supervise Aquatics Program staff, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, coaching scheduling, certification management and on-going development.
  • Schedule appropriate staffing levels in the aquatics facility to meet program, special events and open swim needs.
  • Oversee the scheduling, supplies and budget for Swim Lessons and assigned aquatic and safety classes.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Assist Director with staff meetings to keep staff advised and informed of all program offerings, class scheduling, membership changes, policies, etc.
  • Gather monthly, seasonal and annual Aquatics Center statistics, and produce reports needed for Director.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of college or related experience.
  • Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green).
  • Two or more years of Aquatic Program related experience.
  • Minimum of two years staff supervision and budget management experience preferred.
  • Lifeguard Certification preferred.
  • Excellent human relations skills and an ability to maintain position communication with staff and members.
  • Ability to address and make solid decisions in emergency situations.
Required Licensure and/or Certifications
  • CPR/AED - Prerequisite upon hire, 14-day grace period to obtain.
  • Basic Life Support - Prerequisite upon hire, 14-day grace period to obtain.
  • First Aid - Prerequisite upon hire, 14-day grace period to obtain.
  • Oxygen - Prerequisite upon hire, 14-day grace period to obtain.
