Compensation:
W2: $95,000-$105,000/year
OR 1099: $55/hour
We are seeking a Gateway Project Software Engineer to support a high-priority application development initiative for a federal research environment. This role is part of a cross-functional Agile scrum team responsible for delivering a modern business application that integrates with multiple enterprise personnel systems.
This is a hands-on engineering role
—ideal for a mid-to-senior level .NET developer who thrives in clean code, strong collaboration, and structured Agile delivery.
Design, develop, and maintain applications using C# and .NET 8+
Build front-end components using ASP.NET MVC, Razor views, and Bootstrap
Develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, stored procedures, and queries
Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrate with external systems
Write and maintain unit tests and automated integration/regression tests
Collaborate closely with product owners, QA, and fellow engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
U.S. Citizenship (required - no exceptions)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
6+ years of professional software development experience
Strong experience with:
C# and .NET (8 or higher)
ASP.NET MVC and Razor
Microsoft SQL Server (2019+)
RESTful API development
Experience working on Agile development teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with
Azure Dev Ops and CI/CD pipelinesFamiliarity with Jira for Agile task tracking
Experience with
Entity Framework Core or DapperExposure to Azure cloud services (App Services, Functions, Storage, AKS)
Experience with
Docker or containerized deploymentsTest-driven development (TDD) experience
Fully remote (U.S.
