We are looking for a Journeyman Diesel Technician to join our Boise, team.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
- Due to federally mandated DOT regulations, Kenworth Sales is a drug-free workplace. Any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screening.
- Receives repair order assignments from Service Manager/Foreman.
- Performs work directed in repair order in a timely and thorough manner.
- Maintains a superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
- Advises Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer.
- Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Lead and/or Service Writer.
- Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment. Attends training sessions as required from time to time by Service Manager.
- Performs additional repairs required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of Technician’s faulty workmanship.
- Maintains accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked on the job.
- Follows all Warranty Vendor guidelines while keeping the service desk informed. Mark and retain all parts as per warranty vendor guidelines.
- Accepts and represents the company department in all directed after-hours call-out situations.
- Keeps the work area in a functional and clean state.
- Contributes to a positive and cohesive work environment.
- Aids and trains apprentice technicians as directed by the Service Manager/Foreman.
Journeyman Diesel Technician Qualifications
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Five years of experience as a heavy-duty truck repair technician with an emphasis on engine repair. Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods. Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely. Working knowledge of PCs and Laptop Computers. Excellent communication and managerial skills.
Valid Commercial Driver's License preferred and a good driving record. Professional personal appearance.
The Journeyman Diesel Technician reports directly to the Service Manager.
Working ConditionsThis is a physically demanding position. The employee will stand six to eight hours per shift; lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Must climb in and out of customer's vehicles to record information and road drive.
S/he will be required to wear a dealership uniform.
