- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 years of experience repairing and maintaining a complex and diverse array of commercial HVAC equipment and systems in a commercial facility environment, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Journey-level HVAC license issued by the state of Idaho.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant certification.
- City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
- Driving Record Check
- Criminal Justice Information System background check (CJIS)
Coordinates day-to-day work, delegates tasks and sets deadlines for the assigned team. Provides guidance, direction and support for training and reviews work. Ensures effective collaboration with other teams. Listens to team members’ input and feedback and resolves any issues or conflicts.
Performs journey-level installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to commercial and residential HVAC systems and equipment. Utilizes tools of the trade and specialized automated equipment to diagnose and calibrate devices within critical climate systems. Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams and HVAC equipment operation manuals.
Trains personnel on maintenance standards and safety procedures for HVAC, mechanical, geothermal and automated systems. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws, as well as follows American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASRHAE) standards and operating guidelines and indoor environmental quality (IEQ). Maintains detailed maintenance records and energy usage data for multiple equipment and system types.
Monitors and manages all aspects of the building automation systems (BAS) and direct digital controls (DDC). Uses BAS to monitor, record and report on geothermal, electricity, natural gas and water usage. Performs basic BAS programming and works with vendor regarding more complex integration and programming. Creates, updates and archives print and digital control diagrams for HVAC systems and other devices.
Reviews the design, size and layout of HVAC systems for new construction. Assists with the development of bid documents. Provides technical support to engineers on new electrical, HVAC and related system designs. Researches opportunities to maximize building and system energy efficiency as well as the use of renewable and alternative energy sources.
Utilizes computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to create maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures. Assists in material and equipment selection for supply and inventory levels. Assists facility maintenance technicians with maintenance and repair of equipment including priority projects to keep facilities operating within established service parameters.
