Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiber/Cable Combo Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining both fiber optic and coaxial (coax) cable systems. This role requires a strong understanding of broadband infrastructure, network connectivity, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
What you will do- Install, test, and maintain fiber optic and coaxial cable systems in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
- Perform splicing and termination of fiber and coax cables.
- Troubleshoot and repair signal issues, connectivity problems, and physical cable faults.
- Use test equipment such as OTDRs, signal level meters, TDRs, and spectrum analyzers to validate system performance.
- Read and interpret network schematics, blueprints, and construction prints.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
- Document work completed, including test results and installation notes.
- Work independently or as part of a team in both aerial and underground environments.
- Safely operate bucket trucks, ladders, and hand tools required for installation and maintenance.
- Provide excellent customer service while on‑site, addressing any concerns or questions.
- 2+ years of experience in fiber optic and coax cable installation, maintenance, or related field.
- Proficient in fiber splicing, connector installation, and coax termination.
- Knowledge of RF theory, DOCSIS standards, and fiber network architecture (GPON, Active Ethernet, etc.).
- Familiar with safety protocols related to electrical and telecom installations.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Industry certifications such as FOA CFOT, SCTE, ETA, or similar.
- Experience with construction or utility locates, permitting, or Right‑of‑Way procedures.
- Familiarity with mapping software, mobile work order systems, and GPS.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, climbing, bending, and lifting.
