• High school diploma or equivalent
• 4 years of experience in an industrial plant, performing journey-level work installing, maintaining and conducting repairs on industrial electrical systems

• Journey-level Electrician license issued by the State of Idaho
• Valid state-issued driver’s license
• Ability to obtain an Idaho Wastewater Treatment Class I License or Operator in Training (OIT) within six months of employment
• First Aid and CPR Certifications

• Driving Record Check

Performs journey-level electrical work on industrial and commercial machinery including troubleshooting; conducting repairs; and installing and maintaining electrical systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), motor control cabinets, UPS systems, generator backup systems, motors, panels, switch gear and related electrical components throughout wastewater facilities and other public works utilities.

Performs maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment within the industrial wastewater treatment plant facilities and other utilities. Assists with preventive maintenance procedures on instrumentation equipment. Examines equipment to determine whether it requires repair or replacement. Assists in material and equipment selection for supply and inventory levels. Creates, updates and archives electrical prints and schematics. Participates in weekly safety meetings and training classes.

Performs industrial, commercial and standard electrical installations, repairs and maintenance to other city-owned facilities and equipment outside public works utilities. Assists mechanics in maintaining and repairing wastewater valves, pumps and other process equipment and facilities. Trains and leads registered electrical apprentices on general assignments, proper electrical installations and safety procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Management reserves the right to reassign duties at any time.

• Knowledge of reduced voltage starters, medium voltage (4,160 volts) and high voltage (34,500 volt) electrical equipment and systems; UPS and generator backup systems; fire alarm systems; HVAC control circuits; large generator backup systems; lock-out/tag-out safety procedures; PLCs
• Knowledge of variable-frequency motor drives
• Knowledge of National Electric Code, state and local requirements for industrial electrical systems
• Computer usage and related software

• Ability to test instruments such as multimeters, power monitors, ammeters, meggers and line tracers
• Act as a signing journey-level electrician for permits and inspections
• Fully utilize, read, update and create complex electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, prints, plans and drawings
• Troubleshoot and repair complex motor controls and a wide range of electro-mechanical systems
• Repair and replace defective parts in motors, generators, pumps, relays, switch gears, controllers, motor control centers, power monitors, HVAC controls, and other electrical equipment
• Carry out verbal and written instructions, determine job requirements, repair sequence, parts acquisition and labor time estimates
• Communicate effectively in English for job performance
• Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
