Experienced Field Service Technician –
Raymond West

This dynamic field service technician position involves servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing all makes of material handling equipment at customer locations.
Duties & Responsibilities- Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
- Maintain a profitable billing level.
- Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
- Train other employees as needed.
- Follow all Service Department procedures.
- Communicate with the assigned Field Supervisor and customers.
- Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate, and orderly fashion.
- Ensure necessary tools are available for repair and scheduled service work.
- Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle inside and outside.
- Keep an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
- Pass Raymond Certification and re‑certification, if applicable.
- Maintain good knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Report accidents, whether self or customer.
- Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
- Be willing to work overtime, coordinate with supervisor, and follow all procedures in the Employee Handbook.
- Follow safety procedures and use good judgment regarding safety.
- Work out of town as necessary.
- Establish a positive rapport with customers.
- Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by Service Supervisors or Managers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Effective presentation skills before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, co‑workers, and managers in other departments.
- Willingness to work off‑hours and assume additional responsibility as needed.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to manage time efficiently.
- Customer‑orientated and professional behavior at all times.
- Willingness to follow mandates and procedures of the Service Department.
- Ability to handle customers face‑to‑face.
- Ability to fulfill essential job functions consistently while staying alert and safe.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable points record.
- Basic knowledge of D.C. and A.C. electricity, internal combustion, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical abilities.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic with numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Raymond Level 1 Certified or working toward that goal, if applicable.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 2+ years prior mechanical experience in the material handling or large equipment industry.
- Familiarity and ownership of hand tools required.
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines helpful, but not required.
- Position based in the field with daily travel within assigned territories.
- Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and a company fuel card.
- Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.
- Non‑sedentary position.
- Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision required.
- Frequent handling of moving mechanical parts and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Hand and arm use, with occasional smelling and sense of taste or smell.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Exposure to outdoor weather, electrical shock risk, wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and vibration.
