Security Control Specialist

Overview

Join the Security Control Specialist team at the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. Protect the Ada County Jail and support a secure, high‑stakes facility.

• Facility Oversight: Monitor and control the movement of staff, inmates, and visitors. Identify and report safety hazards and security threats.
• Security Console Mastery: Operate advanced audio‑visual security systems, including door controls, lights, alarms, fire systems, and CCTV.
• Communication Expertise: Use telephone and radio equipment to manage calls and coordinate operations.
• Emergency Incident Command: Lead the Incident Command Center during emergencies, maintaining communication with jail staff and external responders.
• Data Management: Log radio assignments, key activities, and maintenance requests accurately.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with radios, alarms, and other security equipment.
• Tech‑Savvy Operation: Maintain computers, office equipment, and related devices; perform basic preventive maintenance.
• Flexibility & Teamwork: Adapt to additional duties and collaborate with the security team to ensure smooth operations.
• Schedule Flexibility: Work all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed or on an on‑call basis.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Preferred:
  Current Idaho driver’s license.
• Familiarity with basic office terminology, procedures, and equipment.
• Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
